Unprepared!

I was hiking with a friend today. The weather was unusually warm, which made some hiking paths a bit slippery. We decided to hike up to a canyon view point but found ourselves unprepared as to the footwear we had chosen. The pathway leading up to the canyon was straight ice! This lead us to the realization that we needed to turn around if we didn’t want to get ourselves into a predicament! On our way back, we noticed others who were in the same boat, although most had their ice tracks on.

Unprepared! We were so close! Imagine the spectacular view we could have enjoyed if only we had been prepared!

I got thinking about what people like to prepare for in life. Vacations. Education. Careers. Their children’s futures. Their retirement. The list goes on, yet how many of us dare to stop and prepare for our eternal destiny? Is there life beyond the grave? Is there a God we will one day give an account to? Can we find peace with Him while we still have breath in our lungs?

My friend, you can have certain hope and peace today!  If you will open your Bible, you will find the very words of God Himself! Words of life! Words that tell us there is a God, “The Lord of earth and heaven, who loved and longed to see forgiven, the world in sin and pleasure mad, that He gave the greatest gift He had! His only Son, to take our place, that WHOSOEVER! Oh what grace! Believeth, placing simple trust, in Him, the righteous and the just- should not perish, lost in sin, but have eternal life in Him!” (John 3:16)

Will you prepare for eternity? “Now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation!” (2 Corinthians 6:2)
